Band gets together. Band writes songs. Band plays shows. Band gets signed to a modest contract on an independent label and releases first album. Band starts to get attention. Band gets their debut re-released on a major label. Band hits it big with the ‘Paranoia! Paranoia!’ song. Band then releases unsuccessful follow up. Label is unhappy and band gets dropped. 5 years later band releases their third album Little by Little for free on the internet.

Thus is the life story of Seattle rock band Harvey Danger. A rags to riches to wisdom sort of tale, much like the story of fellow one hit wonders Nada Surf. Not only have the two bands often been compared to each other, but they share the distinction of surviving their falls from the public eye. As most people know Nada Surf went on to release two solid indie records on Barsuk Records (three, if you want to count the enjoyable yet transitional Proximity Effect album) and now it appears Harvey Danger are ready to get back on their own two feet and continue life as a band.

This time around Harvey Danger have decided to offer their latest self released record, Little by Little, up for download…for free. That’s right. The album is compressed in a zip file, complete with album artwork and notes, and up on their website for anyone who wants it. Of course they give you the option of paying for it or offering a contribution, for those of us who feel the urge to thank the band for their music. If you remember their hit single, Flagpole Sitta, or just like to download free music, check it out. Kill Rock Stars records will be officially releasing the record on July 25th, along with a bonus 9 song EP.
