Hearing the genre “Singer/Songwriter” sort of makes me cringe nowadays. You know you’re either going to get something unique, or something that sounds like every other musician in America. While Nic Garcia’s sound is seemingly familiar, it differs enough from the rest of the genre to make it worth listening to at least once through.
It’s like if Connor Oberst (Bright Eyes) could sing a little better, stopped making electronica albums, and went back to making nice, soft rock. The album would be perfect for a rainy day spent stuck inside. Its great instrumentals don’t distract, so it’s good music to have on in the background. The album doesn’t vary much from song to song, and the airy vocals don’t change throughout the entire album, which would make it boring for some people. But if you like that sort of slow, soft folk-rock, then this is probably right up your alley.
Nic Garcia’s music is for fans of Iron and Wine, and slower Bright Eyes, but if you are looking for something energetic and upbeat, then you should probably look elsewhere.

That’s very insightful. One review that tells me what’s up. I guess i won’t bother with this stuff. I appreciate variety and energy in my music.
