The Blow – Pile of Gold Posted on September 3rd, 2006 by Rich Belize

I think the main motivation behind naming your band the Blow is that if someone tries to be clever and say “The Blow blows! Haha!” their ‘diss’ or ‘zing’ will be overshadowed by the retardedness of what they just said. Whether or not this is the real reason behind the Portland duo’s name is beside the point; this is my story and I’m going to stick to it until the end of the line.
Moving on…one thing you must know about the Blow is that their singer is a woman named Khaela Maricich and she has her own blog. And it’s just not any blog. It’s one of those ‘public’ blogs that can be read by anyone with the internet installed on their PC or mac, so feel free to check it out- unless you run your deal on a Linux setup. Then you can’t see it, because you are probably 35 and in a basement. (If I got that wrong, please correct me, I know nothing about computerrz.)
Now back to Ms. Maricich, when she isn’t making funky electronic sounds with her bandmate Jona Bechtolt she is the artist in residence at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art. That means she’s sort of a big deal. So is this new mp3 from the Blow’s up coming record Paper Television (K Records). It’s called ‘Pile of Gold’ and if you like it’s hyper-inactive, spread out beatz then you can buy the album when it comes out on October 24th. I know that seems like a long time to wait, but please, show some patience. When you complain about release dates it looks unflattering.
One last thing before I leave you for blog eternity (3 days in real life time), the Invisible Limb myspace page has a sweet new song from Pigeon John’s up coming record …and the Summertime Pool Party. It’s called ‘Money Back Guarantee’ and I guarantee it will be HUGE. Visit us there, add us as friends, then relax to the sweet sounds.
