Sometimes all you can muster is a bleak and melancholy outlook on life. This recently released album is dark, poignantly poetic, anguished, and is composed with a strong voice, intelligent lyrics, and unceasing impassioned vigor. Where many singer/songwriters create music that is centered around musicality, Pillmore instead uses melody as a tool to materialize and exhibit her lyrics. Throughout the album, Pillmore speaks her prose, and rarely is there a melody that the listener will not be able to forget. Her vocal strength and exemplary use of electric guitar heightens the fervor portrayed on the album in a way that wouldn’t be possible with acoustic instrumentation.
